The first half of 2018 was dominated by low sales activities on the German transaction market. Therefore, the trend of the last years continues. Over the course of the last six months, eleven transactions with more than 800 housing units were registered whereas the overall trading volume increased slightly: 49.000 apartments were sold; more than half of them in one single transaction. In the first major transaction with more than 10.000 units since 2016 a total of 25.000 apartments as part of a share deal changed ownership.
The observation of the active participants of the German transaction market confirms the group of public listed corporations as the most important group for current activities. The public sector refrains from any transactions at the moment.
