Increase in trading of rental housing portfolios in 2021

Publication (in German): In the year 2021, the trading volume on the market with existing housing portfolios increased significantly. This is due to one extensive corporate takeover in the fall of 2021. By contrast, the number of sales transactions has remained on the same level as in the previous years.

Potential for gaining knowledge about the energy quality of the building stock from energy performance certificates

Project completed: In 2017 and 2018 the project collected communal strategies for dealing with current immigration development. The objective was to gain knowledge about conditions and approaches for promoting integration and to identify the effects on urban development.

Feasibility study to analyze the public construction volume

Project completed: In this study, approaches were developed for differentiating the volume of public construction by the various territorial authorities in Germany, i.e. federal government, states, and municipalities. Additionally, a more detailed presentation at the regional level was examined.

Price effects for construction services in new and existing buildings

Project completed: This study developed a concept for deriving construction price indices for specific subsectors of the construction volume calculation. The object was to observe the development of construction volumes in real terms for both new and existing buildings as well.

Publication (in German): Construction volume in Germany recovered last year's losses due to the Corona crisis - In particular the finish trades enjoyed tremendous growth rates over the previous years. Positive growth is furthermore estimated for all construction sectors in 2022.

Green Urban Labs

Project completed: In the ‘Green Urban Labs’ projects, 12 municipalities tested new ways to strengthen urban greenery. They examined new approaches to safeguarding and upkeep, and new uses and functions of urban greenery.

Results of the COVID-19 crisis in the border area

Project started: The project is to contribute to the spatial differentiation of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by identifying possible consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic in German border regions and, as far as possible, describing them quantitatively.

Active mobility in urban quarters

Project completed: The research project ‘Active Mobility in Urban quarters’ investigated the promotion of walking and cycling through systematic approaches at the urban quarter level. Four municipalities implemented measures to strengthen multimodality, quality of stay and life.

Evaluation of the Baukindergeld subsidy programme

Project completed: In 2018 Baukindergeld was introduced by the Federal Government to promote home ownership for families with children. The effects of the subsidy programme have now been evaluated as part of a study for the years 2018 to 2020.

Revision and supplementation of the "System for sustainability requirements in design competitions (SNAP)"

Project completed: In order to combine sustainability with Baukultur in the early planning phase of construction projects, the design competition is of major importance. SNAP is intended to facilitate the consideration of sustainable building requirements in design competitions.
