A regional light railway and tram for Erlangen?
What is supposed to achieve and can achieve

Abstract

In Erlangen, the 1:1-relationship between employed persons and inhabitants is leading to strong commuter flows. The railway between the city and the surrounding area (StUB) is to take over the local public transport supply on the most important connective axes. Nevertheless, its introduction has been debated among some politicians and the citizens for years. After an intensive public relations work, the citizen resolution that the city should abandon the project has been rejected with more than 60%. The newly founded administration union StUB now has the task to prepare the necessary documents for the formal application for a grant for the 15.6 km long line. The StUB is also considered as a development engine in Erlangen that can make further projects along the line possible.
