Publication Future Challenges: Sustainable Spatial Development of the European Continent in a Changing World
National Report of Germany for the 15th CEMAT Conference 2010
European regional development policy does not end at the European Union (EU)'s borders. 46 states have organised themselves into the Council of Europe, in which almost all European states co-operate to formulate and solve important questions pertaining to the future of Europe. The activities of the Council of Europe, relating to spatial planning, began in 1970 in Bonn where the first European Conference of Ministers responsible for Regional Planning (CEMAT) was held. Fundamental documents, which have guided spatial planning policies, have from time to time been adopted during the activities carried out over the years. In preparation for the 15th CEMAT Conference 2010, the member states have worked on national reports about spatial development over the past five years. The results can be read in this publication.
