The progress in urbanisation and ever more urgent sustainability issues are reflected in new approaches to sustainable urban development. The New Urban Agenda of the United Nations provides an international roadmap in this regard, pursuing the preservation of planetary boundaries in conjunction with social justice in the modern city and community. This report highlights in an analytically multi-level way Germany's national progress in implementing the New Urban Agenda and on the road to the sustainable transformation of cities and communities - independely from size and geographical situation.
