On 30 November 2020, the ministers responsible for urban development in Europe adopted the “New Leipzig Charter. The transformative power of cities for the common good“. It provides a strategic framework for integrated and sustainable urban development for the common good and identifies central and current challenges such as climate change, social cohesion and digitalisation. It defines and mentions principles, fields of action and recommendations for a goal-oriented steering of municipal transformation. The documentation provides an insight into the development process of the New Leipzig Charter, national and Europe-wide dialogues and discourses as well as scientific research, the results of which have been incorporated into the conception of the document.
