Principles – Methods – Tools
Sustainability aims at the long-term, sustainable development of society, the economy and the environment and has meanwhile become a broad social consensus. The Federal Government as a building owner bears great responsibility in the sector of sustainable building, for the own buildings and as a model for other public and private building owners. This is all the more significant since the buildings that are realised today will shape our built environment decisively in the next decades.
With the guide "Sustainable building" and the evaluation system "Sustainable building" the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety has developed instruments to implement ambitious goals for the sustainable construction of federal buildings. The brochure "Sustainable Building by the Federal Government" provides an overview of the activities of the Federal Government for sustainability as well as of the developed practical instruments and tools that must be applied to federal buildings with binding force, but also to the planning of private and municipal building projects. It is available free of charge in the information portal.
