With over 700 EN 15804 and BNB-compliant data sets containing life cycle assessment information on construction products and processes, the ÖKOBAUDAT is the world's largest database in the construction sector. The life cycle assessments are used for optimization in the planning phase, in research and development and for sustainability assessment. As part of the project adaptation of generic ÖKOBAUDAT data to EN 15804/A2, the generic database was converted to the new standard. Furthermore, various format adjustments were made, and 11 new data sets were created.
The consideration and optimisation of buildings over the life cycle is an elementary instrument for achieving climate neutrality of the Federal Republic of Germany by 2045. The reliability, completeness and consistency of the underlying database are correspondingly relevant.
The aim of the project was to provide the generic database in accordance with EN 15804/A2. This current version of the standard replaces the previous version. This means the generic database according to the old standard is no longer maintained. The most important innovations due to the introduction of EN 15804/A2 are the requirement that all data sets (if useful/applicable) must cover the production and disposal phase. Furthermore, new characterisation methods for calculating the life cycle assessment results were introduced. In addition, the generic database of ÖKOBAUDAT was supplemented by relevant material and energy data sets, so that existing gaps in the analysis could be closed. In addition, the database has been updated to reflect the latest upstream data.
