Publication (in German): What are narratives? What role do they play in the context of urban development? And how can they be meaningfully analyzed? This publication treats the relevance of narratives and sets out how they shape planning concepts as well as theoretical discourses.
Publication (in German): The air traffic infrastructure and the efficient connection to air traffic are relevant for securing the international competitiveness of the economy and the quality of life in Germany. The 23 main airports form the backbone for the transport of passengers and air freight.

The research project will examine how existing integrated approaches in the fields of risk and heritage management in European cities can be strengthened in future. It will also research the extent to which relevant strategies and processes can be applied at the municipal level in Germany, thus establishing coordinated procedures.
Publication (in German): This current analysis of small-scale data on the rental housing markets in the IRB cities shows how diverse urban rental housing markets in Germany are.
Project completed: Private owners should be encouraged to adopt management behaviour that is congruent with federal policy goals. What formats and offers are needed to get as many private owners as possible involved in housing and urban development?
The goal of the federal authorities is to encourage private apartment owners to adopt management and investment behaviour which coincides with political objectives, thereby involving owners in the urban development processes. The research project examined the formats and offers used to address individual owners and the housing and urban development objectives to which they are directed.
Publication (in German): In the year 2021, the trading volume on the market with existing housing portfolios increased significantly. This is due to one extensive corporate takeover in the fall of 2021. By contrast, the number of sales transactions has remained on the same level as in the previous years.
With the model building procedure, the GEG provides for a simplified verification procedure for certain residential buildings. The expert opinion defines the requirements under material law as well as the necessary characteristic values for the issuing of energy performance certificates.
The BBSR and the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) in New Delhi, India, have been cooperating in the field of applied urban and spatial research since 2018. Together they want to better understand the challenges in both countries and develop solutions for cities and city regions.
